Every HelloWildSky design comes with a commercial license, but “commercial license” means different things at different shops. Here’s exactly what ours covers, in plain language.
What the standard license lets you do
- Cut the design and sell the finished physical product (earrings, hair clips) — on Etsy, at craft fairs, in your own shop, anywhere.
- Sell up to 150 finished items per individual design before needing the extended license.
- Make small aesthetic changes — resize, mirror, change material or color — for your own finished product line.
What it does not let you do
- Resell the design file itself, in the original or a modified form, as a digital product. You’re licensed to sell what you make with it, not the file.
- Claim the design as your own original artwork in a portfolio or elsewhere.
- Share the file with another maker, even a friend — each seller needs their own license.
When to upgrade to the extended license
If a single design is selling well and you’re approaching the 150-unit cap, the extended (unlimited) license removes that ceiling entirely for all designs in your account — a one-time purchase rather than tracking limits per design. Worth it the moment a bestseller is within a season of hitting the cap.
A quick real-world example
Say you cut and sell 40 pairs of one earring design at a weekend market, then list the same design on your Etsy shop and sell another 60 over two months. That’s 100 units — still under the 150 cap, no extended license needed yet. Once that design’s running total crosses 150 (across every place you sell it), that’s your signal to upgrade.
